Sonali enlightens us with her Live Project experience with Swarvoski

So much of learning; great exposure and amazing experience - These are words that I would use to describe my two weeks of project with the brand Swarovski, revolving around Market Research of Business Development.

This short live project undertaken was related to understanding the business of Swarovski that involves manufacturing and dealing of loose components; and exploring the avenues for developing the business in the apparel segment with the designers.


Talking about the brand, founded in 1895 in Austria, the brand ‘Swarovski’ designs, creates, and markets high-quality crystal product collections such as jewelry, accessories, and decorative items for the home, as well as the loose crystals as the part of B2B business. This project was associated with the B2B business of the brand.

Right from designing the map of targeted market, to engaging with the designers and understanding their existing business; I got to learn so much at every stage of the project. I acquired the knowledge about famous high street designer markets in the Capital, and about various techniques of embroidery work such as Nalki, Dabka, Zardosi etc.

With the help of theoretical knowledge gained in the course, the project had been delivered successfully in the stipulated time frame. While working on this project, the similar phenomenon of luxury came in front of me as I’ve studied in the course. The luxury product features many hours of toiling over the production of the product, a commitment to quality at whatever cost, unparalleled aesthetics and represents the finest possible within the product class.

That is what the brand Swarovski delivers to its customers in terms of craftsmanship and the quality. The brand has always been known for the crystal cut offered in every crystal, the led- free technology and the quality of shine every piece of crystal has on it.

Experiencing the luxury atmosphere with Swarovski was an exceptional learning experience. I understood the traits of successful project management.

In terms of interpersonal skills, I learned about the importance of co-operation and co-ordination in a team-work. This project has also boosted up my confidence and communication skill to go out in the market and approach the clients.

This live project was the first baby step into the luxury world. Exploring and learning about the famous Indian designers doing extremely well in the apparel segment was quiet informative. Introduction to opulent people/ designers was also overwhelming. It has helped me to learn a lot in terms of market research. A big thank you to the college for giving me this opportunity to get the relevant exposure of the corporate side of jewellery and apparel industry while doing this project!

I would like to give my special thanks to the brand ‘Swarovski’ to give me the platform and an opportunity to showcase my ability and skills and also learn at guiding us at every step. If given an opportunity I would love to work with the brand again.
